Keratin Complex Canadian Formaldehyde Ban

keratin complexkeratin Complex was one of the many products tested by the Canadian government last week.  It was also one of the 10 individual products that the Canadian Government concluded did not meet their safety requirements.  The Canadian Government maintains that no more than 0.2% of a product can contain formaldehyde.  In the United States, that amount is 0.1%.  The Canadian Government concluded that the products they put on their banned list contain up to 7% formaldehyde.

If you are a hair stylist that was using any of the products on the list, please be aware that the Government has issued a NO-Sale order on them.  In other words, you may be violating criminal law by using whatever product you have remaining on a client or possibly even yourself.

  1. Is your Keragreen line COMPLETELY FREE from formaldehyde? I’ve read a few articles that have suggested otherwise- one suggesting up to 1.6% (please see link below). Please clarify, thank you.

  2. Hi S.L,

This outdated/inaccurate report had sparked its own concern for people seeking truly formaldehyde-free keratin treatments. OSHA has since come out that their testing was only on 2 bottles, rendering the sample size too small and inaccurate. We have also since re-formulated, but have never included formaldehyde or any other hideen -hydes in our ingredient list.

The only formaldehyde one would be exposed to with the KeraGreen Keratin Treatment is the natural formaldehyde that is released when the organic compounds are heated over a certain degree. And our 4 independent lab reports have concluded that there is actually more naturally occurring formaldehyde in the air and in bananas than in one KeraGreen treatment. Check out the report here: http://www.organiccolorsystems.com/keragreen-formaldehyde-results/
