L’Oréal Inoa Available Through Drugstores Everywhere?

LOreal Inoa Available In Drugstores EverywhereAs you probably already know, International Hair and Beauty Systems is committed to offering non-diverted product lines and is against product diversion from the professional salon industry. We take a great deal of pride in our approach and strategy to distribute healthier, gentler, and higher quality products on an absolutely exclusive basis to select salons that are environmentally responsible, socially conscious, and interested in building long-term value in their business. Therefore, we are fiercely opposed to product diversion particularly because of the negative effects it has on the excellent salons that deserve all of the credit for the brand credibility being exploited by “Big Beauty” today. Our recent communications with Sugar Inc. has revealed a shocking fact about one of the “Big Beauty” brands that, if true, ushers in a whole new era of product Diversion to the salon industry that has the potential to be even more destructive than the hypocrisy currently practiced. Sugar Inc. is a highly credible international mega-publisher of many beauty and fashion periodicals in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Australia.

According to a recent article in Bella Sugar (one of Sugar Inc.’s beauty publications), L’Oreal has recently re-released a permanent natural hair color product as a professional only salon product whose predecessor was previously sold for many years “over the counter” at retail stores everywhere.  The L’oreal product formerly known as Natural Match was pulled off the shelves within weeks of L’oreal beginning marketing its “Professional Exclusive” product called INOA (Innovative No ammonia).

Why Organic Color Systems is different.

Do a search for your current professional hair color line in Google and you’re sure to find hundreds of discount stores that carry their shampoos, conditioners, and treatments for sale including Wal Mart, Target, Amazon, and even your local drugstore. For decades these lines have been charging colorists a hefty premium for the privilege of promoting their hair color brand to the colorist’s clients, building up the brand’s reputation and client loyalty. Then, these companies just undercut the colorists, the very people that built up the brand in the first place, and sell directly to the colorists clients for cheaper. By taking advantage of the good reputations and hard work of professional colorists, as well as the rapport they have developed with their clients, these hair color companies have done a great job at diverting post-color revenue away from you and into their hands. This is an outrageous breach of trust and integrity.

Pursue Uncompromised Integrity;

Organic Color Systems is developed by Salon Professionals, for Salon Professionals. It is 100% non-diverted and its products (including shampoos, conditioners, and treatments) cannot be found in any non-salon establishment anywhere. Our company ethos and focus is on respect and integrity. Respecting the integrity of our relationship we have with our colorists. Respecting the hair’s health and structural integrity. Respecting the integrity for our shared responsibility for our environment.

Our mission is to Nurture the Beauty, Dignity, Respect, Health, and Well-Being of All

Are you ready for a completely non-diverted professional brand? Are you prepared to realize the real earning opportunity of your art?

  1. I agree that if L’Oreal has taken the same product and suddenly changed the name to market to professionals as something new this is not very honest. However, I also don’t feel that people that can’t afford to go to a salon to have their hair colored should have to use products that are not as good as those a beautician can use. My roots grow in within two weeks of coloring and I sure can’t afford to go to a salon and spend that kind of money every two weeks. I would like to have hair color that is good for my hair available for me to use at home! You seem to be saying only those with a lot of money should have the option of the best quality hair color.

  2. Alexis, I don’t take this article as being that way at all. What it is essentially saying is that a company that claims it sells a product only to professionals, and especially when professionals build a business around offering an exclusive service, that the company should actually only sell it to professionals. The point is not that good products should only be available for people that can pay lots of money for them but rather that good products should be marketed honestly to those who buy them. This would go for professional use, home use, and at every price point.

  3. This does not surprise me at all. Loreal has been cheating this industry for years and years. They care about money period. Salons and hairdressers are just a nuisance for them. Look what they did after they bought pureology…ummmm, strange that not long after purchasing “pureology”, Loreal launches “Ever Pure”. hmmmmmm…weird. It is “pureology” re packaged for grocery stores. Trust me, if Loreal had it their way, people would never set foot in a salon. They literally have videos on their web site that walk consumers through how to color, highlight, the hair. They spend millions of dollars marketing to consumers and encouraging them to not spend money in salons. And yet, we hairdressers continue to support them..why??? Hairdressers need to wake up and realize that we are important and that we should not let giant companies like Loreal control our industry.

  7. Unfortunately, all permanent hait color that actually works will have varying amounts of PPD’s in them. However, Organic Color Systems is great because they use the lowest levels of PPD’s on the market. Pigments are required for hair coloring to work and PPD’s are found in pigments. It sadly that simple. If the low levels in Organic Color worry you, there is always Hanna…. to bad the results will suck.

  8. As a hair educator and professional i have been following the hype around ammonia free colour since the trend and marketing hit the world of media and advertising, i have even asked questions, requested information all ignored i wonder why! i write a blog and look to share knowledge,
Simply put these products are misleading in there chemistry and the the long term effects they have on hair.
The market will always have a place for both professional and home colour but honest and informative information should be freely given.
Hair stylist colour technicians have the power to change this it’s called taking control question the products get informed get knowledge.
Ammonium Hydroxide, denatured Alcohol. the list goes on
well done to organic systems for opening this debate.

  9. I had my hair done professionally in January.. I loved the soft color… (over my gray)… but… it seems that I had a chemical burn or alergic reaction…. my scalp felt like it was burning… later I realized my scalp was very dry. I started scratching to loosen it… and then the scratching turned to itching… … 7 months of it .. ..now… my dermatologist said I have psoriasis of the scalp… her rx foam and her rx shampoo did not help… ??? Now she suddenly died and I don’t have a dermatologist to go to.. but would like some color in my otherwise whitish hair without further damage to my poor scalp… any help out there?

  14. This label, along with the Wikipedia link, makes it annoying clear that L’Oreal has duped hairstylist yet again. I have always been against their practice of testing on animals and diverting their products after salons build up a name for their brands. This is yet another example of this god forsaken company taking advantage of unwitting, hard working, stylists.

I am tracking a case out of California where a client, allergic to ammonia, is suing the stylist who used INOA on them. L’Oreal is claiming that the stylist “knew or should have known” that the shampoos contained ammonia and also is claiming that the stylist “was educated and tested by the state cosmetology board and should have been well informed that hair color needs ammonia to be permanent and effective”. L’Oreal also correctly points out that the ingredient is listed on the label. Once again, L’Oreal will screw the stylist. When will it end? I have written an email to the plaintiff’s lawyer but doubt he cares. It is much easier to go after a salon with little money to defend themselves than a big company like L’Oreal.

In addition to being disingenuous about their ingredients, L’Oreal INOA is also simply a bad product. It does not work well, is hard to use, and produces inconsistent outcomes. Inexperienced hairdressers will buy into the marketing hype surrounding INOA, but experienced hair colorist will never use it because it simply does not work and results matter when you have a loyal clientele.

I use Organic Color Systems almost exclusively and bought the entire INOA line when it first came out because my rep hyped it so much. I threw most of it away because my rep would not take back the hair color. This was one of the worst mistakes I made in my salon career and I am embarrassed about it now.

L’Oreal could not pay me enough money to use their INOA crap! I know they have a lot of money to spend, but integrity, professionalism, and the art of delivering exceptional results for your clients every time they visit is something that money can’t buy. Even if you are a French company with their noses up their rear-ends!

  15. I take issue with the idea that salons should have exclusive access to the highest quality dyes. I hate supporting a business just because they have a monopoly on the product I’m after.

Their business should be built on quality of work, not product exclusivity. A great colorist is not great because he/she has exclusive access to the best products, but because it can truly be an art. I can color my hair on my own with the same high-quality products and not get as good results because I am not a trained colorist.

  16. Nice article. Last Month I found this site and wanted to let you know that I have been gratified, going through your site’s posts. I shall be signing up to your RSS feed and will wait for your next post. Best Regards, Whitney

  17. Warning! If you are sensitive to ammonia, don’t use INOA! Search Google and you will find that it does indeed contain ammonia under another name. I was assured by my very expensive and exclusive salon that it could safely be used on me, and I have had a terrible reaction! It has been a month since it was applied, and my scalp is still burning, especially every time I wash my hair, which seems to re-activate the toxin. It is particularly bad because they vigorously rub the poisons right into your scalp!

Perhaps L’Oreal reasons that chemical allergies are non-existent, just psychological, and if you tell people there is no ammonia, and take away the odor, they’ll have no reaction. WRONG!! and legally risky for L’Oreal, not to mention for the health of the poor deluded clients.

The reaction happened after several uneventful applications which seemed fine. About the fourth time around, I experienced some burning, but decided to ignore it. Then the fifth time ruined my scalp. I have sores and burning and they just don’t go away.

Needless to say, I shall not be going anywhere near INOA ever again.

  18. I am a stylist in Beverly Hills and have used Inoa for a few months. The first time using it the colors were great. I started to notice on the third or fourth retouch the clients hair seemed drier and drier and the fading was very obvious. loreal states that the hair will get better with less fading each time you use it. I did not see or experience that with Inoa. Needless to say..I am no longer using Inoa. Its hard to apply, it takes a lot longer than other colors and its too expensive. Its a bad product all around. My advice to other stylist’s is be careful with Inoa…it does not preform the way Loreal says it does. Now I have alot of Inoa haircolor sitting in my cabinent. The beauty supply will not give me a refund on the unopened boxes that I have..I guess loreal screwed me out of alot of $$$$. Loreal….Never again.
