A team of some of the most talented professional hairdressers from around the country focused a full day on building the self-esteem of mothers experiencing a transitional period in their lives – giving them the boost in confidence necessary to re-enter this economy’s tough job market.
Organic Salon Systems, the leading provider of non-diverted professional natural salon products, sponsored an advanced professional development seminar on Sunday June 13, 2010 where 23 stylists from 17 salons from around the country attended and sharpened their skills on (1) hair color practice and theory; (2) the use of more natural, gentler, healthier, and organic products; and (3) client health concerns when using professional salon products.Rather than using hair models for the hands-on demonstrations, Organic Salon Systems teamed up with Alpha House, an exceptional non-profit organization that provides shelter and counseling to pregnant women, victims of domestic violence, and women going through a pregnancy of crisis to identify women who where facing a unique set of circumstances where experiences aimed at providing a boost of confidence may assist their successful re-entry into the job market. Through this unique Organic Salon Systems professional development event, these women were provided with a comprehensive beauty consultation benefiting by the hundreds-of-years of accumulated salon experience that was represented by the attendees and staff, a professional hair and makeup makeover, and professional insight into their resumes as well as interviewing tips and coaching. Additionally, each women was provided with a care package designed to provide them with the products and tools necessary to maintain their new professional look.
Matthew Pinto, Technical Director and Head of education for Organic Salon Systems said “A primary goal of our education is demonstrating to hairdressers that there are much more natural high-performance alternatives to traditional ammonia-based hair color. We are fortunate to be able to evangelize our product line, of which we feel so passionate about, while enhancing the self esteem of women working diligently to build a stable and meaningful life for them and their new child”.
Lonnie Malatino, President of Alpha House added “Businesses like Organic Salon Systems represent a trend of important contributors to many causes throughout countless charitable and non-profit endeavors where the actual services and products are contributed in an engaging and meaningful way which is supportive of the charities overall mission”.
Scott Mitchell, chief executive office of Organic Salon Systems, said “Alpha House is an exceptionally run charity with a worthwhile cause. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with their professional and caring staff and we look forward to opportunities to collaborate and provide support in the future. It is always a truly inspiring experience when groups of people, who are truly passionate about what they do, come together and work towards a primary goal. I hope we will continue to see the trend of local businesses working closely with local charities as they realize that you can do “good” in your community and still do well in business.”
For all involved the seminar and workshop was a resounding success!
