Mixing Naturlite Activators
Intermix Cream and Liquid activators to adjust for the thickness or consistency of your formula. Keep in mind that Organic Color Systems hair color is a soy-based liquid hair color that will thicken into a easily manageable gel when mixed with activator. Here is a quick guide to help intermix your activator to the desired level:
• For 5 Vol – 1.5% mix equal parts 10 Vol and 0 Vol
• For 15 Vol – 4.5% mix equal parts 20 Vol and 10 Vol
• For 25 Vol – 7.5% mix equal parts 30 Vol and 20 Vol
• For 35 Vol – 10.5% mix equal parts 40 Vol and 30 Vol
Dangers of using 50 or 60 volume developers with ANY hair color
The real reason why higher volumes of peroxide, such as 50 or 60 volume, should not be used in the hair coloring process is that the higher the peroxide level, the greater amount of sulfur is released from the hair. Loss of sulfar will cause hair to become brittle, harden, and lose weight. More importantly, the loss of sulfur in your hair will also cause the delicate inner firers of your hair to become unprotected and exposed which will leave it’s tyrosine protein vulnerable to damage and subjected to environmental pollutants. Tyrosine is the protein in your hair that is responsible for the production of melanin, the hair’s natural pigment. Without healthy tyrosine, and proper melanin levels, hair color will fade quickly.
Hydrogen peroxide, in varying concentrations, produces the oxidative process in permanent hair color. The higher the concentration of the developer, the more it will deplete or remove sulfur in hair. This is precisely why coloring hair with higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide causes the sulfur smell to be greater.
Sulfur is an amazing nutrient to the body because of its capability to aid in good blood circulation as well as lessen skin inflammation. Because of these two capabilities of sulfur, it is absolutely essential to the scalp, to promote healthy hair growth and prevent hair loss, and to the hair coloring process, to minimize irritation. Regardless of whether you use our ammonia-free color or another color line, stay away from peroxide levels above 40 volume.
