Soothe Plus for Scalp Conditions

Millions of people are afflicted with scalp conditions; and chances are that you have a few of them as clients or might even suffer yourself. Three of the most common scalp inflammatory conditions are Dandruff, Psoriasis, and Seborrheic Dermatitis (Scalp Eczema). All three of these conditions are share very similar symptoms, which make it difficult to distinguish one from another. Severe itch, oily scalp, tightness of the scalp, occasional scalp pain, poor hair condition, hair loss, and embarrassment are a few symptoms that your client may have all or one of.

Dandruff

With Dandruff, scalp cell production is abnormally rapid. The cells collect together on the scalp forming flakes. When these flakes break free, they are readily seen in their hair and on clothing. Dandruff also causes the scalp to itch. When scratched, the scalp can become irritated, leading to infection, physical discomfort as well as hair loss.

Seborrheic Dermatitis (Scalp Eczema)

The most common type of scalp eczema is known as Seborrheic Dermatitis. It appears as lesions or rashes covered by sometimes oily, yellowish or whitish scale. This condition can appear on areas of the skin which have an abundance of oil glands, typically the scalp, nose, and eyebrows. As with Dandruff, the rapid build-up and scaling of cells is one aspect of the problem and results in flakes and itching. In infants, Seborrheic Dermatitis of the scalp is known as cradle cap. The patches may be thick, yellow, crusty or greasy.

Scalp Psoriasis

Psoriasis is characterized by accelerated cell production and thickening of the outer layer of the skin. These cells do not eventually flake, but build up to form plaques. Plaques are reddish and silver-scaled, and they often itch. They sometimes cover large areas of the scalp, and can be very difficult to treat. Psoriasis can cause a substantial amount of hair loss.

Directions for Soothe Plus:

shampoo: Use full strength. Apply on wet hair. Massage lather throughout. Repeat. For optimum results allow second lather to remain on the hair and scalp for 2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Due to the gentle nature of this shampoo and the natural ingredients used in it, the first wash will only produce a small lather. The second wash will give a creamy lather. When used as a body wash, apply a small amount onto a sponge and gently massage into the skin for a minute and then rinse.

Treatment: Spray an even amount onto the scalp or skin where required. Apply Soothe Plus Conditioner, leave for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The Treatment can be used in between washing. Spray directly on the scalp or skin as required. It is also designed for use following coloring, lightening and perming. When using on the body, spray onto the skin and then gently dry with a towel.

Conditioner: Apply a small amount to clean, towel-dried hair (over the treatment). Massage into the scalp and leave for 1-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Additional Information: The Soothe Plus Shampoo also makes a fantastic body wash for clients with sensitive, irritated skin.
